I try really hard not to get too nit-picky about continuity errors in movies. I'm more upset when Ron Howard made Max Baer look like an evil boxer in THE CINDERELLA MAN, but even then I understood the reasoning so just mentioned it and moved on.
I'm on record as saying the biggest gap in logic I can think of (for a movie trying to take itself seriously) is in THE ROCK. When Connery rolls through the fire of the furnace and they think he screwed them until he opens the door. Escaping, Connery would have been coming the other way, so why didn't he just use that door in the first place?
Here's another I was thinking of last night, about RETURN OF THE KING. When Aragorn leads everyone to Mordor (to buy time for Frodo to destroy the ring in Mount Doom), all the warriors are on horses. When the final charge is made, they are all on foot.
Now, they could have all dismounted, I suppose (although what moronic general would do that, giving up the advantage of Cavalry?), but even if that happened, where did all the horses go? We get pretty wide angles there, and I never saw any horses.
